I am not a particularly superstitious person…AT ALL. When I was a kid, I thought it very interesting the things adults and other kids would say to me without batting an eye. “Don’t step on a crack…Don’t let a black cat cross your path…Don’t walk under a ladder…Don’t split the pole….and then there were umbrellas & itchy palms & crocked necklaces. But we survived! I don’t hear much about superstitions these days, since recent history has been absorbed in the COVID-19 pandemic.
Actually, the one superstition that I personally still hear about is the ominous Friday the 13th. It is meant to be a very unlucky day, but I will say August 13th was one of the best days of 2021 for me!
At the beginning of 2020, I was sure that based off my new status as Mommy to a newborn and long-time recipient of unprofessional behavior, it was time for a change. Well… Really, I knew it was time for change when I became pregnant, but in February of 2020, it was extremely clear: I needed to do my all to put myself in a happier state of mind and in a more peaceful environment.
Finding a new organization that aligned with my outlook on office culture and then deciding to finally pursue my MBA degree, were huge goals that found a resolve in August, Friday the 13th. On this day, I was given the best news ever! I landed the job of my dreams and was admitted to the graduate program of my dreams! Two dreams officially came true and I couldn’t be happier and prouder of my determination. It was not an easy road, but I am grateful that I did not give up on myself.
:) :) :)
Even when you reach a goal, you will realize there is still more work to be done. It is never ending, but we strive to be fulfilled. Did you have a goal that you never thought you’d reach, but you did? Remember that you accomplished that one, so you can certainly accomplish the next!
Happy Goal-reaching!
